CHAPTER SEVEN

Getting To Know All About You

HAEBBEN GOT UP about an hour before 5 o'clock in the morning. Haebben loves to sleep in, but there is an aphorism amongst the thieves of his last guild. They say: "the early bird gets the gold coin."

He decided to take this time to shave and put on a brand new ship's atmosphere suit. Then he and Kristo went to the Spyro Hawk. The Flight deck crew had placed Spyro Hawk on the catapult in the first position. That meant that as soon as they went through the jump portal, they would be fired off.

Haebben had Kristo go through the checklist twice to make sure for every System was working and that they really did have full power.

Haebben decided that he needed to check his Communications with the bridge. He made sure that he had a headset on and turned on his System.

"This is Spyro Hawk to Empress."

"Good morning Spyro Hawk, this is the bridge of the Empress. You're up early."

"According to the Skipper, I was supposed to launch a soon as we went to the jump portal."

"We just did that about two seconds ago."

"Bridge, I need you to allow me to launch now."

"You are now first for lunch in 10 seconds."

Haebben watches the big maw in front of him open up, showing him that they were still going through the jump portal. After the end of the 10-second mark, the catapult fired him out, giving them about a 5000 mile per hour speed advantage. He coasted for a few seconds and then floored his engines. Now he had the speed advantage. Then he turned on his innate invisibility talent.

Spyro Hawk's sudden invisibility caused consternation. The bridge was not ready to see the ship suddenly disappear. They even fired off a few probes in the area, thinking that the probes could find him if he was using the standard Stealth systems.

Janthra was standing on the bridge with a big smile on her face. Eldred looked at her and smiled. Knowing it that he dealt with someone who could take a personal invisibility talent and extend it over a small craft. Not only did they have a hard time seeing the vessel, but it was impossible to sense with their equipment vessel. Canaver walked over to Janthra, who was standing on the Captain's bridge.

"You had this for us all along," said Canaver smiling.

"Dotaga wanted to give you an extra bit of edge. Everything worked to bring Haebben into the Solari, have him trained, and put inside of the scout ship. On his flight exam, he used his invisibility talent to pretty much to wreak havoc with the enemy and give aid and comfort to civilians. Needless to say, he passed his exam with flying colors."

"How does this work. Is it Haebben's own personal ability and not part of the drain on his Power resources. Is it something that he can turn on and power with the ship's power resources?"

"Do you still have Communications with him?"

Eldred nodded.
